Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

your Orlando Tropical Paradise

One of two water parks at Walt Disney World Resort (the other being Blizzard Beach), Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon provides something for everyone – from taking a whitewater rafting adventure and barreling down a thrilling waterslide to snorkeling through a colorful reef filled with exotic fish and live sharks, chilling out on a white-sand beach and surfing in one of the world’s largest wave pools. According to Disney legend, a massive storm dumped a shrimp boat called “Miss Tilly” (the water park’s icon) atop Mount Mayday and created the 56-acre Typhoon Lagoon.

Highlights of Typhoon Lagoon include the Surf Pool (featuring six-foot waves), Shark Reef (where you can snorkel with colorful fish and real sharks), Crush ‘n’ Gusher (water coaster), Humunga Kowabunga (speed slides), Gang Plank Falls and more. Dining options at Typhoon Lagoon include Crush Hot Dog Cart, Funnel Cakes, Happy Landings Ice Cream, Leaning Palms, Let’s Go Slurpin’, Lowtide Lou’s, Snack Shack, Surf Doggie Hot Dog Cart and Typhoon Tilly’s.

Surf Lessons

Surfing instruction can be arranged on select days (Monday, Tuesday and Friday) before Typhoon Lagoon opens). Administered by professional surfing instructors from Craig Carroll’s Cocoa Beach Surf School, Surf Lessons take place at the 2.75-million-gallon Surf Pool, which is located in the heart of Typhoon Lagoon. Available for guests ages eight and older, Surf Lessons are an additional cost. Availability is limited.

Surf Pool

The Surf Pool at Typhoon Lagoon churns up waves up to six feet – perfect for body surfing! Or just lounge on the beach that surrounds the Surf Pool, which is billed as “one of the world’s largest wave pools.”

Castaway Creek

Relax on a giant inner tube as your float along a 2,000-foot journey that winds through rain forests, waterfalls and grottoes at Castaway Creek, which encircles Typhoon Lagoon. There are five entrances and exits to this popular lazy river.

Crush ‘n’ Gusher

Experience a “gravity-defying” water roller coaster adventure at Crush ‘n’ Gusher, which promises thrills and surprises around every corner. The three state-of-the-art coasters of Crush ‘n’ Gusher are named Banana Blaster, Coconut Crusher and Pineapple Plunger. Note: You must be at least 48 inches tall to ride the Crush ‘n’ Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon.

Gang Plank Falls

A tube run that consists of four-person inner tubes that rapidly wind down a 300-foot-long wild river full of twists, turns, waterfalls and caverns, Gang Plank Falls offers fun for the whole family! The highest and longest of the three tube rides at Typhoon Lagoon (the others being Keelhaul Falls and Mayday Falls), Gang Plank Falls lies to the left of Mount Mayday.

Humunga Kowabunga

Ideally located in the heart of Typhoon Lagoon (between Mayday Falls and Storm Slides), Humunga Kowabunga features three enclosed speed rides that drop five stories as they wind inside of Mount Mayday. Experience speeds up to 39 miles per hour along the 214-foot Humunga Kowabunga slide. Note: You must be at least 48 inches tall to ride Humunga Kowabunga.

Keelhaul Falls

Adjacent to Gang Plank Falls at the far side of Typhoon Lagoon, Keelhaul Falls is one of the water park’s three inner tube rides (the others being Mayday Falls and Gang Plank Falls). Keelhaul Falls offers an incredible tubing adventure through whitewater rapids – with a myriad of twists, turns, caves and drops along the way!

Ketchakiddee Creek

A children’s water play area, Ketchakiddee Creek features fountains and geysers, waterfalls, floating boats and small waterslides. Ketchakiddee Creek lies toward the far left-hand side of Typhoon Lagoon and across the bridge from the Surf Pool. Note: You must be 48 inches or shorter to experience the Ketchakiddee Creek water play area.

Mayday Falls

The longest tube run at Typhoon Lagoon, Mayday Falls takes you on a watery adventure through caves and waterfalls. One of the water park’s three inner tube rides (along with Gang Plank Falls and Keelhaul Falls), Mayday Falls is located adjacent to the Forgotten Grotto and to the left of Mount Mayday.

Shark Reef

For an eclectic underwater adventure, experience the Shark Reef at Typhoon Lagoon! Here you and your family can swim in a saltwater tank surrounded by schools of colorful tropical fish and live sharks (which are completely harmless, by the way!). Masks, snorkels and life jackets are included with the price of Typhoon Lagoon admission. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Guests can also go inside the sunken tanker and observe the sea life through portholes. Shark Reef is located adjacent to Storm Slides.

Storm Slides

A series of three body slides that wind through tunnels, waterfalls and caves down the right-hand side of Mount Mayday, Storm Slides races you at speeds up to 30 miles per hour. Each of the Storm Slides – Jib Jammer, Rudder Buster and Stern Burner – are each unique in their own way, so be sure to ride them all! Note: You must be at least 60 inches tall to ride the Storm Slides at Typhoon Lagoon.
